PUBLIC NOTICE – UPDATE OF WATER SUPPLY STATUS IN POLOKWANE – 11 March 2024

 

Polokwane Municipality is reaching out to all stakeholders with an appeal regarding water supply situation within its jurisdiction. The municipality is currently facing unprecedented challenges due to persistently high temperatures, which have led to a significant water shortage in various parts of the municipality.


As of this morning, the water levels in all municipal reservoirs have dropped to their lowest, with some even hitting the alarming 0% mark:

o Ext 34 (Ivydale): 0%
o Potgieter: 0%
o 50 Ml Krugersburg: 0%
o 30 Ml Dome: 0%
o 30 Ml Flat: 4%
o Seshego: 10%


This situation is affecting not just specific areas, but a wide swath of the municipality. While some parts are experiencing reduced water pressure, others, particularly those in upper areas, are experiencing with shortages.
In light of these circumstances, Polokwane Municipality urgently appeals to each and every one to join hands in conserving water: use water sparingly; fix leaks promptly; and limit outdoor water usage, amongst other tips.


By working together and taking proactive measures, we can mitigate the impact of this water shortage and ensure that everyone in our municipality has access to an adequate water supply.
