POLOKWANE EXECUTIVE MAYOR CLLR MAKORO JOHN MPE WELCOMES CIBA ROADSHOW

Polokwane, Wednesday, 05 June 2024 — Today, Polokwane Executive Mayor, Cllr Makoro John Mpe, delivered a warm and enthusiastic welcome address during the CIBA (Chartered Institute of Business Accountants) Roadshow held in Polokwane. CIBA is a professional body for business accountants that provides certification, education, and resources to enhance the skills and careers of its members.

In his speech, Executive Mayor Mpe proudly announced the recent recruitment of 14 talented individuals under the Finance Management Grant (FMG) internship program. “Their potential is truly remarkable,” he said. However, he emphasized the need for a crucial partnership with CIBA to help these interns meet the minimum level requirements essential for their growth and development.

Cllr Mpe highlighted the immense importance of a partnership between CIBA and Polokwane Municipality. He believes that such a collaboration would not only enhance the skills and capabilities of the graduates but also contribute to the overall growth and prosperity of the municipality.

“By joining forces, we can create a powerful synergy that will benefit the entire community,” said Mayor Mpe. He envisions a collaborative effort where CIBA takes the graduates under its flagship program, providing them with the necessary guidance, mentorship, and support to excel in their roles.

This partnership, according to Executive Mayor, would expose the graduates to real-world challenges and opportunities, strengthening the bond between the municipality and CIBA. This, in turn, would pave the way for future collaborations and mutual growth.

He also took the opportunity to highlight that the municipality is making land available for investment to both private and public sectors. He gave examples of the recently opened Greenery Shopping Centre, the construction of Limpopo Central Hospital, the sod-turning of Netcare Akeso Psychiatric Hospital, and the Provincial Theatre, all of which are being developed on land donated by the municipality.
