#ReagaPolokwane | REVENUE PROTECTION IN ACTION IN POLOKWANE

The early morning chill on Hans van Rensburg Street didn’t stop the municipality’s determined revenue protection team from making their first decisive moves. The switch-off campaign, led under the directive of the Executive Mayor, Cllr Makoro John Mpe began with two heavyweight defaulters, both government departments.

First to feel the power cut was the Department of Agriculture, Land Reform and Rural Development, located opposite the City Library, followed closely by the Department of Education on the same stretch.

Together, these two institutions owe the municipality a staggering R271 million — with Rural Development alone responsible for over R269 million, and Education adding R2 million to the tally.

Executive Mayor, Cllr Makoro John Mpe says service sustainability begins with accountability. Polokwane Municipality continues to urge all customers, including government departments and businesses, to honor their municipal obligations to ensure uninterrupted service delivery for all residents.
