WATER SUPPLY INTERRUPTIONS: EBENEZER AND OLIFANTSPOORT SCHEMES

Polokwane Municipality is aware of water shortage affecting areas from Segwashi to Mankweng, City and Seshego. This is to a shutdown by Lepelle Northern Water which was initially planned for Olifantspoort line but was rescheduled to affected Ebenezer line to allow connection of critical infrastructure on the line.

The municipality will provide regular updates in terms of restoration of supply but in the meantime, affected areas are being monitored for temporary relief of supply.

UPCOMING SHUTDOWNS – OLIFANTSPOORT SCHEME

1. Pump Station 1: 10 – 11 September 2025 (48 hours)
2. Pump Stations 2 & 3: 1 – 2 October 2025 (48 hours)
3. Pump Station 1 (Second Shutdown): 17 – 18 October 2025 (48 hours)

During these periods, water supply to affected areas will be disrupted. Residents are urged to use water sparingly, store sufficient water in advance and make alternative arrangements. The shutdowns are essential to bring the new pump stations online, improve efficiency and strengthen long-term water supply reliability. A mitigation plan has been developed to minimize the risk of total water shortages and updates will be shared continuously.

Polokwane Municipality appreciates the patience and cooperation of residents and stakeholders during this critical upgrade process by Lepelle Northern Water.
