UPDATE ON TEMPORARY WATER SUPPLY DISRUPTION IN POLOKWANE FROM OLIFANTS LINE
Polokwane Municipality has noticed that there is currently no water supply from the Olifantspoort line due to pumping challenges experienced by the bulk water supplier, Lepelle Northern Water (LNW). LNW has assured the municipality that they are working tirelessly around the clock to restore supply to Polokwane.
This disruption comes at a time when many of residents and businesses in Polokwane have already been without water since Wednesday, following scheduled upgrade works carried out by LNW on the same line.
Polokwane Municipality is aware of another 48-hour shutdown planned by LNW for 17 September 2025. However, given the severe impact this week’s shutdown has already had on the municipal water system and customers, the municipality is actively engaging LNW to reschedule this planned shutdown.
In the interim, while the municipality awaits restoration of water flow into the system, water tankers will be deployed across affected areas to provide relief.
Polokwane Municipality regrets the inconvenience caused and appreciates patience and cooperation of all affected residents and businesses during this challenging time. Updates will be communicated as new information becomes available.
For updates and enquiries, please contact municipality’s Water and Sanitation Call Centre at 015 290 2376 or report issues via the MyPolokwane Citizen App or send WhatsApp text to 068 290 8736.
End!
