REBUILDING THE ROADS THAT CARRY OUR CITY FORWARD | Friday, 20 March 2026

POLOKWANE – Today, Polokwane Municipality takes a decisive step toward restoring the lifelines of our city. A critical engagement is underway led by Cllr Joosuf Pemma, representing the Executive Mayor, Cllr Makoro John Mpe — bringing together voices that move Polokwane every day.

Around the table sit Members of the Mayoral Committee, community representatives, Ward Councillors, municipal officials, contractors and key players in the transport sector, including the bus and taxi industry. Their shared purpose is clear: to shape a road rehabilitation programme that responds directly to lived realities on the ground.

Spanning approximately 5.97 kilometres, this intervention targets roads that have reached the end of their lifespan where patchwork solutions are no longer sufficient and where potholes have outlived their utility. Here, the municipality is rebuilding, reimagining and restoring.

This is a city choosing durability over delay, quality over quick fixes.

Residents can expect a comprehensive media statement to follow, detailing all affected streets and the scope of work ahead.

Polokwane is on the move again – stronger, smoother and built to last.
