PLANNED 48-HOUR SHUTDOWNS TO BRING NEW WATER INFRASTRUCTURE ONLINE


Polokwane Municipality has received official communication from Lepelle Northern Water (LNW) regarding the planned shutdowns of the Olifantspoort Scheme as part of the second phase of the connection and commissioning of the upgraded pumping stations.


These shutdowns are necessary interventions aimed at enhancing the efficiency, reliability and long-term sustainability of water supply infrastructure.


The planned shutdowns are scheduled as follows:

  • Olifantspoort Pump Station 1:
    o 10 – 11 September 2025 (48 hours)
    o 17 – 18 September 2025 (48 hours)
  • Olifantspoort Pump Station 2:
    o 01 – 02 October 2025 (48 hours)

Affected Areas: Communities from Ga-Chuene, Maja, Thokgwaneng, Seshego and the City.


LNW said further phases would follow during October 2025, with shutdown durations of less than 48 hours, and details will be communicated in due course.


The municipality urges all affected residents to store sufficient water in advance and use it sparingly during the shutdown periods. The municipality further apologises for the inconvenience caused.
