Executive Mayor Cllr Makoro John Mpe is spearheading this year’s International Nelson Mandela Day activities in Extension 44, where the focus is on real service delivery – patching potholes, repairing streetlights, collecting waste, cutting overgrown grass and addressing water supply issues.

 

The Executive Mayor has directed municipal Executive Directors to intensify efforts on EPWP opportunities, particularly in historically neglected areas such as the Extensions, reaffirming the municipality’s commitment to inclusive development.

 

He has also issued a stern warning to individuals who disrupt service delivery projects under the guise of demanding a 30% stake, stating clearly that these are not new projects, but essential maintenance services aimed at restoring dignity to affected communities.

 “Let the work continue unhindered – our people deserve progress, not sabotage,” he emphasized.
