MEASURES IN PLACE TO MITIGATE WATER SUPPLY INTERRUPTION

Polokwane Municipality, in collaboration with Lepelle Northern Water, has implemented contingency measures to safeguard water supply following a temporary electricity supply interruption affecting the Ebenezer Plant. The plant, which provides water to Polokwane Municipality from area such as Segwashi through to Mankweng and the parts of the City, is currently unable to pump until 18h00 today due to an Eskom power outage.

To cushion the impact on residents and businesses, the following interventions have been activated:

  • Deployment of water tankers to strategic areas,
  • Increased reliance on municipal boreholes, and
  • Supplementary supply from Rustfontein storage through Lepelle Northern Water.

The municipality remains confident that these interventions will sustain the system until the Ebenezer Plant resumes pumping this evening and further urges communities to use water sparingly.

Polokwane Municipality apologise the inconvenience cause and appreciates the patience and cooperation of all affected communities.

For updates and enquiries, please contact municipality’s Water and Sanitation Call Centre at 015 290 2376 or report issues via the MyPolokwane Citizen App or send WhatsApp text to 068 290 8736.

End!
