FROM STALLED DREAMS TO FUTURE POSSIBILITIES
On Heritage Day, while many celebrate culture, Executive Mayor Cllr Makoro John Mpe chose to confront a different kind of heritage — the unfinished stories of our communities.
In Ga-Makanye, he met community members and walked the grounds where a Thusong Service Centre was promised as far back as 2014. A project that has refused to move, like a stubborn ghost haunting the land.
His message was clear and cutting: “Land is important for us to have as a municipality to build multipurpose service centres for our people. We must secure it, protect it, and make it work for the future of our villages and rural communities.”
Ironically, the very soil that holds our heritage also holds our unfinished promises. But today, the Executive Mayor signaled that it will no longer be the land of waiting, it must become the land of working.
