This morning, the pulse of Polokwane beats a little faster, a little prouder, as the Polokwane Municipality officially launches Polokwane City Marathon — a bold stride onto the national athletics stage.

This is no ordinary run of the mill affair; it is an ultra marathon, a test of grit and resolve, and a coveted Comrades Marathon qualifier — where every kilometre tells a story of discipline and daring.

At the helm of this momentous occasion, Executive Mayor Cllr Makoro John Mpe takes to the podium, setting the tone with a vision that runs deeper than the race itself. Under his stewardship, this marathon is a celebration of community spirit, economic vibrancy and a city on the move.

From seasoned runners chasing qualifying times to first-time participants chasing personal victories, Polokwane is rolling out the red carpet of resilience.
