TAKING BACK OUR STREETS, RESTORING HOPE
The heartbeat of Polokwane beats stronger when its streets are safe, clean and filled with opportunity, not fear.
Executive Mayor Cllr Makoro John Mpe leading a united front of law enforcement agencies, community organisations and businesses, rolled out the Safer City Campaign to reclaim public spaces from drugs, dangerous weapons and disorder.
Amid the clean-up, the campaign also uncovered the human side of the story — job seekers sleeping on the streets, holding on to hope for a better tomorrow. The municipality has stepped in, offering them temporary shelter, psychosocial support and registration on the municipal unemployment database.
Because in Polokwane, safety is not just about order but also about dignity, compassion and restoring hope where it was fading.
