Yesterday, the Executive Mayor of Polokwane, Cllr Makoro John Mpe, took a moment out of his jam-packed schedule to sit down with a man whose name has long been etched into the city’s economic DNA, Oom Jannie Moolman from Moolman Group. For decades, Moolmann has been more than just an investor; he’s been a builder of dreams, brick by brick, mall by mall, deal by deal.

The meeting was no small talk. It was the meeting of vision and investment, of leadership and enterprise, two forces pulling in the same direction for the future of the city.

The Executive Mayor was candid in his remarks:

Oom Jannie has a whole lot of interest in this city. As we push hard to grow Polokwane’s economy, we look to him to keep bringing in projects and investments. Our mission is clear: expand the economic pie through properties, malls and industrial development. And in that field, he has done a tremendous amount of work already.”

Moolmann, in his calm yet confident way, returned the sentiment with optimism:

“Polokwane has tremendous potential. We are not done yet, far from it. We have big plans, and we are already speaking to other players who are eager to set foot in Polokwane. Today’s meeting with the Executive Mayor was very fruitful, and soon the city will be hearing from us.”

If there was one thing the encounter made clear, it’s that Polokwane’s future isn’t being left to chance. With the municipality opening doors for growth and seasoned investors like Moolmann ready to put skin in the game, the city’s economic engine is gearing up for a louder, faster, stronger run.

After all, when vision shakes hands with investment, the future is bound to look brighter.
