ONGOING EBENEZER AND OLIFANTSPOORT UPGRADE PROJECT SHUTDOWN
Lepelle Northern Water (LNW) wishes to update all stakeholders on the ongoing planned shutdown under the Ebenezer and Olifantspoort Upgrade Project.
The shutdown commenced in the early hours of Wednesday, 10 September 2025, and is expected to be completed within 48 hours. The purpose of the shutdown is to connect Pump Station 1 at Olifantspoort, a critical component of the broader upgrade project.
Progress has been steady, despite delays caused by excessively hard rock formations that the contractor had to break through to connect the new delivery pipes at the pump station. After 24 hours of continuous work, the project has reached the halfway mark. Quality inspections on welding and pipe connections are being carried out simultaneously to ensure compliance with required standards.
LNW sincerely apologises for the inconvenience caused to our customers and communities during this period. Upon completion, the project will deliver new pumps and motors at the Olifantspoort Plant, enhancing reliability and ensuring a more sustainable water supply to the City of Polokwane and surrounding areas in the near future.
Water is expected to be back around 18:00 on Friday, 12 September 2025.
We thank all stakeholders for their patience and understanding as we work towards securing longterm water security for our communities.
