Cllr Kobela Welhemina Modiba

- Personal and Education Profile
Cllr Modiba Kobela Welhemina was born and bred at Segopye, Ga- Mamabolo. She attended her primary school at Maribe Primary School and proceeded to Bjatladi Secondary School where she completed her Grade 12. She went further with her studies where she obtained a Secretarial Diploma, Certificate in Adult Basic Education and Training, Certificate in General Office Practice and recently obtained Higher Certificate in Project Management with MANCOSA and a Higher Certificate in Local Economic Development with University of Johannesburg.
- Political Profile
She was recruited into the African National Congress (ANC) in 1993 and remained an unfaltering member to this day. In 2005 to 2021 she was elected as the deputy Chairperson of the ANC Machocho Hlatswayo Branch. She also served as South African Communist Party (SACP) Sub-regional Treasurer. She is also a member of the Peter Mokaba Regional Executive Committee (REC) from 2021 to date.
- Deployment & Governance Profile
Cllr Modiba also served as a Ward Committee of Polokwane Municipality from 2008 to 2016. She was elected as proportional representative (PR) Councillor of Polokwane Municipality in 2017, where she was later appointed as a Member of Mayoral Committee (MMC) responsible for Roads, Stormwater and Transportation for a period of three (3) months before the 2021 Local Government Elections. Cllr Modiba was again elected as a PR Councillor in the 2021 local government elections and she was then elected to serve as the Council Speaker at the first sitting of the Council, which is the position she currently holds.
