Polokwane Municipality is hard at work to clear the waste collection backlog in Seshego, City, Mankweng and Sebayeng areas.
The gap is narrowing down as several other routes have already been covered. The municipality’s waste collection team continues to work extended hours to ensure all household routes are cleared. It is envisaged that the remaining Wednesday and Thursday routes that overlapped should be cleared by Friday and that all the backlog should be cleared by Saturday.
Residents whose waste is already on collection spots are urged to leave as is since the waste team is working extended hours until 22h00 to clear the backlog.
The disruption of waste collection follows a labour dispute with temporary workers for the better part of the week.
Once again, the municipality apologises for the inconvenience caused and assures members of the public that the waste will be cleared.
