Lepelle Northern Water has, this morning, experienced a leak on a specon pipeline that supplies water to Polokwane Municipality. As a result, Olifantspoort Scheme has been stopped and there is no water supply coming to Polokwane Municipality.

Lepelle Northern Water has estimated that it would take the team about 7 hours to repair the pipeline.

This will affect all areas of supply within Polokwane Municipality from Ga-Chuene to City and Seshego. The municipality will, in the meantime, assist affected areas in a form of water tankers as a temporary relief measure.

Water supply will be restored once Lepelle Northern Water completes repairs. It must also be noted that it might still take some time before water reaches all areas once supply is restored because the line is empty.

Polokwane Municipality will provide regular updates in terms of repairs and restoration of supply as and when received from Lepelle Northern Water.

The municipality apologizes for the inconvenience caused.
