Polokwane Municipality has been notified of water supply stoppage from Olifantspoort Scheeme.
The letter from Lepelle Northern Water reads: “This serves to notify Polokwane Local Municipality
of the stoppage of Olifantspoort Scheme’s Pump Station 3 (PS3), owing to Eskom’s planned
maintenance on the line supplying PS3 which is being conducted without prior notification.
“There will be no water supply to Polokwane due to planned maintenance affecting the operation
of PS3. ESKOM reported that maintenance will be completed at 18:00 today.”
This has affected water supply to all areas of supply from Ga-Chuene, to City and Seshego.
In the meantime, the municipality will activate water tankers to provide temporary relief until
Lepelle Northern Water challenge is solved. However, it should be noted that, after restoration,
it would still take some time for supply to reach all areas of supply due to the empty line.
Areas receiving supply are urged to use water sparingly.
Polokwane Municipality apologises for the inconvenience caused; and further urges all to report
water related challenges to municipal water and sanitation call centre at 015 023 5376 / 5629.
