Polokwane Municipality has activated water tankering services as relief measure to all areas experiencing water shortage in the city. The shortage is due to the severe damage caused by a burst mainline pipe at the Dap Naude Dam over the weekend.
The dam supplies water to the city through the Dalmada Water Purification plant. Supply to the Dalmada plant has been closed to allow for repairs.
The line was repaired by yesterday after long hours of struggle, but later started to leak again when water was reopened. The water team is continuing with welding repairs this morning.
The challenge has, negatively, affected water supply to the City area including high lying areas of Flora Park, Sterpark, Bendor and Serala View.
Areas receiving supply are urged to use water sparingly. Regular updates in terms of progress on repairs will be provided.
The municipality sincerely apologises for the inconvenience caused and appreciates your patience during this difficult period.
