Upgrading of Informal Settlements
New Pietersburg (Disteneng)
During 2005/06 financial year, the Department of Local Government and Housing allocated one thousand units at Extension 44 phase two. These units were allocated to beneficiaries from New Pietersburg/ Disteneng (section A&B) during relocation. The area is currently clean and timeously monitors to ensure that no re-squatting is taking place.
This areas is currently illegally occupied by different groups of people and was initially consisting of four sections (A,B,C,D), During 2005/06 financial year, one thousand households were relocated to Extension 44, these households were from section A & B.
During 2009/2010 financial year, we have conducted survey and collected data from people residing in section C&D, from these exercise, a total number of Eight thousand Six hundred and Twenty One were found to be currently residing there.
Tosca Mashinini and Seshego Zone 6
During 2006/07 financial year, the Department of Local Government and Housing allocated one thousand three hundred units at Extension 71. These units were allocated to beneficiaries from Tosca/Mashinini and Zone 6 Informal Settlement. The area is currently clean and timeously monitored to ensure that no re-squatting is taking place.
