POSTPONEMENT OF PLANNED WATER SUPPLY INTERRUPTIONS: OLIFANTSPOORT SCHEMES

Polokwane Municipality wishes to inform residents and all stakeholders that the planned 48-hour water supply interruptions initially scheduled for 2 – 3 July 2025 on the Olifantspoort Pump Stations 1 and 2 have been postponed until further notice.

This follows communication from the contractor to Lepelle Northern Water, who has encountered a major technical challenge on-site, making it impossible to proceed with the scheduled shutdown within the planned timeframe.

The shutdown forms part of critical refurbishment and upgrade works on the Olifantspoort water supply schemes by Lepelle Northern Water (LNW), aimed at improving long-term water supply efficiency and reliability.

A new date will be communicated as soon as it is confirmed. Further planned shutdowns during July and August 2025 remain under review and updates will be provided in due course.

Polokwane Municipality remains in close contact with Lepelle Northern Water to ensure that all necessary preparations and mitigation plans are in place when the shutdown is eventually executed.

The municipality urges all residents, businesses and institutions to stay informed through municipal official communication platforms and to continue using water sparingly.

The municipality further apologises for any inconvenience this change may cause and appreciates the community’s patience and cooperation.

For updates and enquiries, please contact our Water and Sanitation Call Centre at 015 290 2376 or report issues via the MyPolokwane Citizen App or send a WhatsApp text to 068 290 8736.

End!
